Data analytics is finding meaningful insights from the raw data to make right decisions. It helps to identify patterns, trends and relationships in the data that would help any organization to outperform. However, simply presenting meaningful data or technical analysis to decision makers may not be effective in communicating the insights and their implications. This is where storytelling and business skills come into play.
In my perspective, data analytics can provide the raw material for effective storytelling, and business skills can provide shape the narrative and communicate the insights effectively. Data storytelling involves crafting a narrative around the data that communicates information in a way that is engaging and meaningful to the stakeholders. It provides life to data and makes it more relatable and useful. Business skills such as strategy planning, project management, financial management, communication negotiations, and problem solving can help to frame the data in a way that is relevant and actionable for the business.
Combined data analysis, storytelling and business skills can form a powerful combination to effectively communicate the information and make right business decisions.
